HALLOWEEN

Halloween was SO much fun this year! Me and Brittany started off with taking Brett cupcakes for his birthday. On the way I gave a homeless man one of the cupcakes. the dietitican in me wished I had an apple. Then we went to go find our fun outfits! We decided to do something that fits our personality so....we decided on nerds! we found killer costumes! then I went home for our family get together! Lilly was an elephant! isn't she SO cute!We hung out with the fam, had some pizza and Halloween treats. Then i went to Brittanys! We went to some regional church dance type thing for a bit. then we went to the party at the hanger. It was a blast! the best part about dressing up as a nerd? you can totally get away with the nerdiest dance moves! And trust me, i had a LOT of them!!! There were some really creative costumes there! One of my favorites was Pinky and the Brain. There was also a guy there in all silver like those street performers. It was quite possibly the best halloween. Now i just need an excuse to wear those suspenders again!

I have been given so much, I have no time to ponder what has been denied--Helen Keller

So i have this FANTASTIC blogging/anatomy buddy Laurisa. She inspired me. :) She has the song on her profile called "happy", by natasha benningfield. Totally crazy about it. I love the line in it that says,"got my dreams got my life got my love, got my friends got the sunshine above. why am i making this hard on myself when there's so many beautiful reasons i have to be happy."

Fines de semana de PERFECTION!

This is from a service project from last weekend. We went to Neavitt elementary to paint fences! I figured it had to have saved them a ton of money not to have to hire people. And you know me, always thinking of the children! :) So we got up at 6 on a saturday and spent 6 hours in 103 degrees painting these fences. No worries though. Me and brittany have the super hero talent of being able to make just about anything fun. We told each other every joke we've ever heard in our lives, along with quoting movies. Speaking of which, next time you talk to me, i have this AMAZING knock knock joke to tell you ;) things were probably a lot more funny due to our lack of sleep. why were we only running on a few hours of sleep you ask? the best reason in the world....HOCKEY!!! we went to the ASU hockey game the night before. 5$ for students? sign me up! it was incredibly fun! We were the number two fans their, easy. Number one fan had a cowbell. Come on, a cow bell. He was curing fevers left and right. That'll get you number one anywhere! My only complaint? not enough fighting. We heckled a bit here and there. i'll leave the rest to your imagination. Hoepfully, you have a good one. I'm pretty flippin lucky to have Brittany as a friend. She's so positive and sweet and so much fun! and adorable! I could go on for days. point in case, she's amazing. And yes boys, you can have her number. just contact me with a resume and backround check and i'll see what i can do! :) can life get any better?

For Laura, my impatient e-stalker :)

My stake had a girl ask guy rodeo. I asked Jacob. Let’s start there. I got a big pumpkin, cut a little hole in the back, and shoved pennies through with the letters of my name written on them with sharpie. I tied a tag around it with some cheesy saying like “Let’s go round up some fun, cut inside to find out who your cowgirl is”. I know, I have reached a whole new level of cheesiness. Now for the actual event! We started out with some delish cowpeople (cowboy+cowgirl=cowpeople) food. Then the rodeo started. Let me tell you, Jake was so impressed with the amount of training these cows have had; like a kid in a candy store. So they roped some cattle, did their cowboy thing, and then it was our turn. All our strong boys went up for a round of tug of war. What STUDS! I was pretty impressed with their manly strength! Brett maybe tried a little too hard, especially after eating. He puked quite a bit. He was such a soldier though! Good jokes for the rest of the night :) Then it was on to pictures. As you can see, we decided to tell a story. After that, Jake managed to dance about a half of a song with me (not by my choice for sure!) and then we were on to the bonfire! Too bad I don’t have any pictures of it, because it was AMAZING. Huge fire! We had sobe bombs, pretty cool! When it was all done, we had a fire to put out. No one brought a shovel so Jake had a genius idea of filling the cooler with sand and putting sand on the cardboard we had and then pouring it on the fire…success! We had so much fun! Jacob is one of the funniest people I know, and gives my abs a good workout from all the laughing! All the boys are pretty good for some laughs. Our whole group was comprised of way cool people! Couldn’t have picked a better one! I don’t know about everyone else, but I thought it was a pretty dang good time! I'm looking into becoming a cowgirl full time. :) life is beautiful

The chicken came first.

In my anatomy lab on Tuesday we "exploered" a cadaver. It was my first time and I was super nervous! I had been hyping myself up for weeks! I was fully planning on puking or fainting...or both. But i'm happy to say, i was a brave little scientist. I have held a human heart in my hands! who can say they've done that! The person we had was in her early 80s. She had cardiovascular disease and so her heart was huge! typically, its about the size of your fist, but hers was larger then two of my fists. it was incredible. She has had open heart surgery, so we could see the wires through her flesh on her ribs. they use wire to "sew" the bones back together after they break them for surgery. Also, she was a heavy drinker and the liver was huge from filtrating all the toxins.. I'm a little bit afraid of fat now. After pulling open the skin with a large layer of subcutaneous fat, we peeled away the layers of muscle, and then there was a layer of fat around her organs. not good! After pulling out the organs and examining the body, we removed the cloth from her face and peeled back the skin from her face. The eyes were open, CREEPY! Some of the groups popped out her eyeballs. thankfully, no one in my group did. They had sawed open the skull so you could take out the brain too. Amazing, right? The more i learn, the more i realize i dont know anything. The anatomy, science, everything is so complex. Especially the bodies we are blessed with. I could never believe that our whole world was created from some "big bang". I think we're all worth more then a pile of dust, dont you? Everywhere i look there is greater evidence of God. I'm thankful to have religion in my life, it brings purpose to every day :).

Yesterday was Vaughn's birthday! He's now 22! It seems like it wasn't that long ago he was agreeing to play barbies with me if I played army men with him...only if I didn't tell his friends! We went out to dinner as a family and had so much fun. I'm pretty sure I have the best family on the planet. I wouldn't change them for ANYTHING!
